Why Verafy exists

Elliott Jay Symonds

Founder & Engineer, Verafy Ltd

Elliott Jay Symonds built Verafy at 24, self-taught in software engineering, data pipelines, and UK corporate law from the ground up.

Raised in the UK care system without inherited capital or a professional network, he learned early that credibility and legitimacy are not the same thing. Directors can present a polished front while carrying a documented history of dissolved companies, unpaid creditors, and repeat insolvency — information that is public record, but rarely checked.

That gap — reliable public data, poor accessibility — is the problem Verafy solves. The tools to close it already existed, priced at £400–800 a month for law firms and Big 4 accountants. Verafy runs the same checks against the same Companies House data and returns the same intelligence in seconds, at a fraction of the cost.

Built solo. Shipped in under six months. Every feature exists because a real deal demanded it.
